Walk by the lake
Lausanne is ideally located between the Swiss Alps and Lake Geneva. From the boardwalk of Lake Geneva you can take in the views in nearly every direction, see directly across the lake to France or enjoy food, drinks, good company or a peaceful serenity brought by the stillness of the atmosphere.
Le Musee Olympique (Olympic Museum)
The headquarters of the International Olympic Committee is in Lausanne, so as a part of their headquarters they have built a three-story museum to commemorate the origins of the modern Olympics. Plan for at least two hours, though you could easily spend more time there, to walk through seeing all of the details that have made the Olympics what they are today.

La Cathedrale de Lausanne

Every place you go in this program it is recommended that you see it from above. The train will take you most of the way up the hill to the cathedral from the hotel or wherever else you may be coming from. From the train there is a five to ten minute walk, including some stairs, to the cathedral. Across Europe there are magnificent churches that are centuries years old, so you should at least peek inside a couple of them.
Inglewood
Sometimes it is best to just know where the comfort food is. A short five minute walk from the hotel in Lausanne you will find a burger joint. A plain cheeseburger might be just what you need after a long day of travel. An important note: In Europe most meats, hamburger and steak particularly, are cooked rare or medium, so you have to ask if you want it cooked more when ordering. Oh and their desserts menu is pretty good too.

Cafe du Simplon
At the recommendation of one of the advisors on the trip and the hotel front desk staff, a few other students and I found this whole in the wall of a place for dinner. We indulged in flavorful food that insisted you eat every last bite. It is definitely a local place because the waiters speak very little English if any.

Breakfast with a view
With the Swiss Alps on one side and Lake Geneva on the other, Lausanne is a picturesque masterpiece that needs to be shared with all to enjoy. Hotel Agora captures an offers these view to all of their guests in the breakfast area. What better way to start a day?
Day trips filled with chocolate and cheese
Not far away from Lausanne is the Town of Gruyere and Maison Callier. Each are a place to indulge in their own guilty pleasure and explore the past, present and future of food. Just add a glass of wine to either and it is a meal!
